Domestic Extension, Stormont, Belfast
An extension to a suburban family home in Belfast, N.Ireland creating a new garden room on the ground floor with a generous master bedroom above.

A rendered cubical form sits on a brick base course which matches the rest of the house.
Large fixed windows provide considerable amounts of natural light and a large glazed door provides access to the garden.

An existing window on the staircase is retained so the rendered box steps away from the rear wall of the house creating a small external terrace which is accessible from the bedroom.
The route to the bedroom is by means of a bridge overlooking a double height space above the garden room.

It was possible to create a generous extension which by a few simple moves provides a quality contemporary living environment even though the budget was relatively modest.
